Due to steadily increasing requirements for cable pro-tection, insulation and screening in industry, Gujarat Polymers offers a complete assortment of flexible tapes suited to these requirements.

Polyester film is a very excellent choice for Cable Industries for Power Cables, Submersible, Fibre Optic and jelly Filled Cables, due to its dielectric & insulating property, excellent mechanical & tensile strength, tear resistance & shear strength. Apart from this, it also has low moisture absorption property and fungus resistance properties. Copper corro-sion is also negligible. Polyester film melts at high temperature at 255° C & shrinkage % are very low. Polyester film in normal conditions is unaf-fected by ageing.

Due to excellent electrical insulating properties, flexibility and ease of handling on coating machines, this film is used for interphase insulation and as a core wrap for Power Cables & Underground Cables. Polyester film alone or alongwith Aluminium Foil and other substrates form the composites and used in cable industries for different application.

Polyester film or Laminate composites is used for pair shielding in Coaxial Cables, Instrumentation Cables, Aircraft Cables, Data Transmission Cables, Signal Cables, I nterphase Cables & LAN Cables. It is also used as a protective wrapping to eliminate all electromagnetic or electrostatic interference. The selection of material is depended on specific needs of each cable & its applications.

Polyester Film alone and its composites are used for its dielectric insulation property while cables are laid for its perfectly insulated electrical property & laid for long term uses and require barrier properties like Water Vapor Transmission, cables which are exposed to high temperature. These cables are used in public buildings, subways, trains, factories, aviation & electrical installation, petroleum jelly filled cables (PJFT), offshore cables, power Cables, CATV Trunk cables, Coaxial Cables. Polyester film alone or aluminum foil & other substrates of different thickness are used depending on specific needs & applications.

For maximum safety and efficiency the right cables have to be used and the right connections are to be made at all times. Polyester film can be used alone as Colour Coded Tapes for an easy identifi-cation. All installation must be faultlessly wired and errors in connections must be avoided. Code printed tapes allow us to identify each conductor. Name of the manufacturers can also be printed on this tape. Polyester film printed & laminated with heat polymers can be used for Flat cables, Jumper cables, Fiber Optic cables (O.F.C), identification & binding tapes for Multi pair cables.
